My client expressed so much appreciation for your agency’s amazing service. She said her pilot was absolutely wonderful. Made her feel at ease and was so kind. She said he even texted her after her surgery to check on her. She was so impressed with AFC." - Marsha, Hospital Social Worker

THE REQUEST.

An application form is submitted.

A person needs to travel long distances for a non emergency medical appointment or another compelling reason. An application form is completed by the passenger or on behalf of the person in need and submitted to Angel Flight Central. At least 5 to 7 business day notice is required.

APPLICATION REVIEW.

AFC staff qualifies passenger.

AFC Staff reviews application and qualifies passenger for a free flight. A Medical Release must be signed by the physician and returned to the AFC office.

PILOTS VOLUNTEER.

Passenger's need shared with pilots.

A private and secure online system is used to coordinate the flights. Pilots review the passenger's needs and volunteer to take the flight. Flights over 300 miles may be divided into multiple segments and require several pilots. The process of determining a Volunteer Pilot typically takes 7-10 business days to complete.

Pilots donate their time, talent, and the expense of flying the plane to help people in need.

FLIGHT COORDINATION.

Coordinate the trip and back-up plan.

A back-up travel plan must be made by the passenger in case of inclement weather or other unforeseen changes. The Volunteer Pilot will call the passenger to coordinate a meeting location and time at the airport. An AFC Pilot may have a Co-Pilot or Mission Assistant accompany them. A passenger is allowed to bring a companion that has been approved by an AFC Coordinator.

TRAVEL DAY.

Flying with Angel Flight Central!

The passengers read and sign a “Liability Release Form". The first-leg pilot keeps the passenger informed of any changes in the plan. Travel to and from the airports are the responsibility of the passenger.

RETURN & FUTURE FLIGHTS.

Additional requests are simple to schedule.

The return flight is coordinated using the same steps as above. Once the passenger has completed the eligibility requirements for their first flight, future appointments can be shared with AFC's staff by phone to initiate the flight coordination process.

AFC requires a Medical Release Form to be signed by the physician annually, or more frequently depending on the treatment received or changes in the passenger's medical condition.
